The X7’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Vistiq doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The X7 has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Vistiq doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

The X7 has standard Post-Crash Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Vistiq doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the X7’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The Vistiq doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

Both the X7 and the Vistiq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The X7’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the Vistiq’s (12 vs. 6 years).

BMW pays for scheduled maintenance on the X7 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. BMW will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Vistiq.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the X7 first among large premium suvs in their 2025 Initial Quality Study. The Vistiq isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that BMW vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. With 4 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks BMW higher than Cadillac.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that BMW vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks BMW 13 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The Alpina XB7’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 produces 16 more horsepower (631 vs. 615) than the Vistiq’s electric motors.

The X7 has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Vistiq doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank and a locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

For better traction and acceleration, the X7 has larger standard rear tires than the Vistiq (315/35R22 vs. 285/45R21). The Alpina XB7’s rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the Vistiq (325/30R23 vs. 305/35R23).

The X7’s optional 315/30R23 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Vistiq’s optional 35 series tires.

The X7 offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Vistiq; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The X7 offers active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Vistiq doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the X7 uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Vistiq, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The X7 offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Cadillac doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Vistiq.

The X7 xDrive40i handles at .88 G’s, while the Vistiq Sport pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The X7 xDrive40i executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Vistiq Sport (26.1 seconds @ .7 average G’s vs. 26.6 seconds @ .71 average G’s).

For greater off-road capability the X7 has a 1.5 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Vistiq (8.7 vs. 7.2 inches), allowing the X7 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The BMW X7 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 850 pounds less than the Cadillac Vistiq.

The front grille of the X7 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Vistiq doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The X7 has 1 inch more front headroom, 3.9 inches more front hip room, .9 inches more rear headroom, 2.8 inches more rear hip room, 2.7 inches more third row legroom and 6.9 inches more third row hip room than the Vistiq.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the X7’s middle and third row seats recline. The Vistiq’s third row seats don’t recline.

The X7’s cargo area provides more volume than the Vistiq.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the X7. The Vistiq doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The X7’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The Vistiq’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

The X7’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Vistiq’s (5952 vs. 5000 pounds). Maximum trailer towing in the Cadillac Vistiq is only 5000 pounds. The X7 offers up to a 7507 lbs. towing capacity.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the X7 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Vistiq doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The Vistiq’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The X7’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the X7 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Vistiq doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The X7 has standard heated front and optional heated second and third row seats, which keep the driver and passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Cadillac doesn’t offer heated seats in the third row of the Vistiq.

The X7’s Parking Assistant Professional can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Control will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Vistiq’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
